DOB: c.19470 -
BORN: Yuendumu

COMMUNITY: Kintore/ Kiwikura

Jeannie was born near the Yuendumu community. Her mother passed away when she was very young and she was raised by Naata and Nancy Nungarrayi, and she is the “half-sister” of Kenny Williams and Tjitji Ross.
Jeannie commenced painting in the early 1990s. Her heritage from an artistic perspective has enabled the development of this talented artist. Her approach to painting has been to maintain the tribal content of her designs and to style her technique with an accuracy of design and neatness in her application.
Jeannie often enjoys painting in the company of senior artists such as Naata and Nancy but preserves her own individual approach to producing fine examples of western desert designs and symbols.
Her father worked as a stockman at Mt. Allan. He taught her Fire, Kangaroo and Emu Dreamings. From her mother and grandmother, she inherited Bush Tucker stories.
She currently lives in Kiwikura with her husband Kanya Tjapangardi. Her spouse, is a well-known artist from the Western Desert
